SCULPTURE DESIGN: JOSEPHINE BAKER

3D print-ready design of stylized likeness of dancer Josephine Baker.

Concept Realizations was commissioned to design a full-figure, 3D print-ready stylized, streamlined likeness of famed American dancer Josephine Baker, in the pose she’s striking in one of Paul Colin's 1929 Le Tumulte Noir lithographs.

We recreated an anatomically-plausible interpretation of Colin's lithograph, and referred to photos of Baker for her likeness. Her hair and the gold material were inspired by the Art Deco façade of the Parisian cabaret music hall Folies Bergère, where in the 1920s Baker danced, nude except for her banana skirt.
